Deidthraw Choose your dead, each with different abilities and benefits then try and survive the unending hordes as long as you can, building defences, upgrading your character and defeating the boss. Deidthraw is a singleplayer endless shooter that has been solely developed by one person since it’s inception. With that in mind I want to write this review for those who are considering purchasing and want to learn a little bit more about the game before committing to purchasing. As discussed gameplay is fluid and the presence of a skills based system promotes further playing through the need to try and experience different build archetypes. Deidthraw is a difficult game as it was envisioned and therefore multiple attempts are required to really get the full experience the developed intended. The presence of multipliers and upgrades however make the game fair despite such a steep-learning curve.
Immediately once you enter the world of Deidthraw, you are immediately exposed to the different features and intricacies each level attempt brings. The game feels fluid with movement and particularly jumping and crouching mechanics being responsive and fun to manoeuvrer around the trailing horde of enemies. Each weapon that you encounter or purchase has its own distinct charm and custom-made sound effects that overall contribute to a level of polish and charm that leaves you wanting to try out each weapon. Present within the game as it stands currently is a comprehensive upgrade system that allows you to select upgrades based on character level and weapon experience gained in the current play-through attempt. What this means is that each attempt remains unique and allows the exploration of different playstyles and “builds” that keeps the gameplay fresh and exciting.

The user interface is slick and easy to navigate. Love the dark and spooky atmosphere. Those skeletons casually chilling at the tables tricked me good a couple of times haha. The graphics are really decent for an indie game, the details in the environment are impressive and I like the wide variety of weapons too. The inclusion of a snow map gave the game a seasonal charm as well. For this price the game delivered a solid gaming experience so far! A thoroughly addictive game. and never has lasting 5 minutes in a game brought such a sense of achievement. It certainly is challenging. Each game something new is learned about how to survive, where the keys could be, where the safe spot is to take a breather ( and where not to go!) – all help the strategy for the next game. Upgrades are essential, get points or crowns and use the various machines to get weapons or other artefacts ( not quite sure what they are for yet.
