Over twenty-four of FINAL FANTASY’s most recognisable faces have assembled to take part in interdimensional fisticuffs. Face off against other teams in action-packed, three-on-three melees that require sense as well as strength to win. Each combatant can be one of four types: vanguard, assassin, marksman, or specialist; play off your allies’ fighting styles, master the bravery system, and emerge triumphant from the clash of steel and sorcery! In addition to standard battles, there will be skirmishes that employ special rulesets, along with cutscenes that tell the story of this reborn world, the gods that rule it, and the warriors who fight for it.
I would still recommend it (after reading what I wrote above and you still want to buy it). I bought it in March 2023 and I have enjoyed it for what I paid for so far (paid it on sale for 65% off). I have been a fan ever since and I played the first Dissidia on my PSP solo. Your super meter is very standard. Get more to spend more supers. However, combine that with drive meter, which handles EX moves as well as drive rush moves (makes for better juggles, basically) and you get very interesting and very subjective ways it can be managed. Your super meter is kept between rounds but you start at 6 full drive gauges every round. IMO, it’s best to spend drive gauge first and only go for super if you need the kill, but the supers can only be routed in some ways as level 1, 2 and 3 supers cancel from different things.

The main roster of fighters we all love have their plots more thoroughly explained in the fundamental arcade mode that pits them in a difficulty-scaling climb towards an end fight against a rival. Small animated cartoons will dot the progression giving you the story in pieces until you eventually complete the event. Many different options and commentators are available, covering both English and Japanese. While I didn’t particularly care for the addition, I know quite a few people who do enjoy it, and it’s hard to argue that it doesn’t add a level of flare to matches.
