Outstanding game with beautiful visuals and impressive sound design, it was the first time that a game ever made my jaw drop by its way of portraying gigantism as well through its visuals than through its sound design. The gameplay is very fun but after the two thirds of the game it grew stale for me, I do not believe the enemy variety was high enough to have kept me engaged and I am also not the type of person that found a lot of fun in many of the unlockable skills which mainly consist of additional combos or such rather than completely new abilities that might change your approach in combat. The fact is that this is simply an amazing video game for which my expectations might have been a bit too ludicrous due to the high praise this experience gets.

The game world is huge and diverse and you travel by foot, by boat and (ultimately) by fast travel through mystic gates. There are more collectibles than one can count and it pays to explore every corner of every environment. Resources abound and it was only at the end that I was short on rare items when I was trying to upgrade armor and weapons. The game’s world rapidly expands as the player progressively takes in the state of this world and its lore. Personally I was expecting a linear story filled with confrontations against numerous norse gods but this is not really what God of War is about. A lot of my problems are related to comparing the game with the Batman Arkham games, which isn’t exactly fair to this franchise, but it’s what I’m use to. The Batman games were much better done in my opinion and I could usually do exactly what I wanted to do in those.
