About the developer Hello, my name is Kenneth, I’m developing Dystobel alone, there have been many hours invested in the project and a lot of learning along the way. I have put a lot of love into the game and I hope that can be reflected in the final product. This is only my second game, believe me I am putting my heart and soul into this game to deliver the best I can. Switching elements (Fire, Ice and Electricity) allows you to nullify enemy projectiles, but there are also enemies that will be immune to certain attacks, the key is to switch to the element that allows you to do more damage while you nullify the attacks they throw at you.
During your adventure you will find life bottles that will increase your maximum health, as well as items that you can equip in the main menu, doing this will modify your attack and defense. Would you rather be a glass cannon doing as much damage as possible but taking a lot of damage every time you get hit? Would you rather be a wall that barely takes damage from hits but makes the fights last longer by doing less damage? Or will you try a balanced combination of strength and defense? Equipping items allows you to adapt the difficulty of the game to the style you enjoy the most. All graphics, sprites of the main character, enemies, bosses, backgrounds, effects, are handmade in a traditional way by me. I’m not a professional animator or cartoonist but I’m trying hard to deliver good and smooth animations in the game. I hope you like the result (or even disturb you heh heh heh).

It starts out as a basic, mediocre mini-metroidvania (2 ability upgrades that are just different weapons), then after the third boss it does a complete 180 and turns pretty much linear up until the end with the exception of a fork or two in the road. It’s in this second half of the game where the dev starts experimenting with different puzzle and precision platforming ideas. There are some large rooms that require you to swap forms (like the colour change mechanic in Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth) and platforming through them is quite challenging The later boss fights are very punishing. Their HP is absolutely stacked and you die in a few hits. Some of them required many attempts to eventually catch a lucky break.
