End of Edge, developed by LIGHTSPEED STUDIOS, is an adrenaline-pumping Wuxia-themed action game that will put your abilities to the test. Fight against overwhelming odds in this exhilarating over-the-top show of martial arts combat, where a single hit can mean life or death. I have played until Chapter 2 as of right now and like this game a lot— it gets a little frustrating but that’s part of the charm. I love the aesthetic and music, and I think the gameplay is pretty interesting, even if I mostly just spam dash and pray for the best I have been learning some strategies. The guys who throw those yellow circles make me VERY mad, but that just makes it better when I kill them lol. The control is pretty basic, except controlling Catboy you also get to control a mine cart, which btw is a challenge because the checkpoint is far, one mistake is a restart from the very beginning, it is a serious test of good eye and fast reaction even after a couple runs.
There is rope climbing, motor/airplane shooting, I find the control not smooth, I experienced some strong lag especially when I am near an enemy, making the game almost impossible to beat, but the good thing is each level is not long and you don’t need to run back and forth (except the last level to defeat 4 guardians The final boss level feels a bit lazy, at the end you just beat all the previous 3 bosses again to meet the final. All the attack routines from bosses are simple, the most difficult part comes with that wind level and rope climbing level because it can be very easy to drop. Super fun game! Sort of relaxing although some levels can be pretty challenging! I enjoy the music a lot and I am impressed by the artwork, so much love to detail in the background. The controls feel very nice, I really like the combo and the diagonal attack from air, it makes combat feel pretty dynamic.

The boss fights are funny, challenging and over the top in a great way. While I am struggling pretty hard with the spear guy and the final boss, but I do see people playing on stream beating them with the same difficulty I played. I guess I am just not that good at it, however it didn’t diminish my experience with this game at all. Its comic book art style carries through from the story to the gameplay. The action is fast-paced, the level designs well thought out, and the boss battles are challenging but fun. Played on the harder difficulty. A very solid 2D sidescrolling beatemup with a unique cultural presentation (Taiwanese folklore), superb art-style, great music/sound design and voiceover. The story while pretty straightforward overall, it does have a couple really nice twists, and I especially love the narrator’s style.
