Fashion Police Squad is a humorous Retro FPS where you fight against fashion crime using attire enhancing weaponry. Clean the streets of socks in sandals as Sergeant Des, and experience a single-player story full of fabulous characters, dazzling encounters, and fierce runway shows! Each fashion crime has a fashion solution, and you’ll need to choose between your weapons carefully to fix each fashion faux pas! Each enemy needs something, be it a splash of color or all the seams taken in, so you’ll need to switch to and use the right weapons for the right situations! Picking the wrong weapon will do nothing to your enemies, so time to choose wisely.
only is Fashion Police Squad a great unique entry in the FPS genre, it’s one filled with character and heart. It’s easy to look at the subject matter and the surface and see only a game that may be a gimmick of some sort, but that would be a big mistake. The action is great, using the gimmick of specific weaknesses to force you to focus on particular enemies, while you’re dodging enemies left and right. I played on hard difficulty, and even as a veteran of the genre I got a good challenge here, dying a reasonable amount but not to the point of horrible frustration. This is all in the backdrop of clever jokes and a great atmosphere: the game does a fantastic job in setting the stage and you really appreciate the level of detail put into the parodies and references. It’s a colorful game with a fantastic soundtrack and great sound design, and it’s definitely a game that you’ll want to put your full attention into.

It’s a really fun shooter, the gameplay is genuinely great, there aren’t a lot of guns but they all feel pretty unique and one even plays into movement in a fun way, movement feels really nice during fights and thanks to the design of areas and the enemies I’d say that moving around feels better than in games like BLOOD. Enemies are fun to fight and encounters are pretty well thought out about the mix of enemies you face at any given time. Now what made me really love the game, was its humour and presentation, and Mission 8’s boss sealed the deal, the game is pretty absurd as far as setting, plot and humour goes, it’s very unapologetic about the writing it has, it’s a constant stream of references and absurdist humour that is rare for me to enjoy but that really worked for me here due to the way the game’s presented, the character sprites really sell all the enemies and their fashion crimes, the locations are varied and look lived in, the sound design’s pretty good, the mob’s dialogue is pretty funny and the music’s pretty nice.
