Yet the seemingly easy marketing case turns out to be quite a pickle! The aged storefront, outdated furniture and an area absent of air conditioner…… Despite the unique taste of the foods, it completely fails to attract any customers. Meanwhile, the shocking news that the snack street is sitting on an acquisition crisis just came out of the blue, what would you do in the 3 months given to save the sinking boat? The journey to saving the snack street now begins! Food Girls already got my attention the moment I saw it was about cute girls and food – at the same time. It somehow strongly reminds me of a stat-raising game, although you do have stats here to increase, it works a little bit different. I feel like this game only attracts a certain audience and might not be very appealing to all visual novel lovers, yet I enjoyed the short journey I had with the girls. To be honest, this game totally fell under my radar and I didn’t know it immediately when the English translation got added, but as soon as I got aware of the localization, I knew it was a game I had to play at some point.
In Food Girls, you are playing as a professional consultant from a company that requested you to do a promotion project for a local snack street, although it isn’t as easy as it sounds. When visiting the snack street, you immediately notice that it isn’t in a very good state and thus, you have to help them within three months to pass several evaluation tests although the requirements are quite tough. After meeting the three girls that run a different snack shop, it seems even more impossible any of them don’t really seem reliable in different aspects at first. First of all, the story isn’t really in-depth here and I could immediately tell that this isn’t the focus in Food Girls. This, however, doesn’t mean that it’s a bad thing at all but I found the story scenes rather relaxing and every time I occurred a scene, whether it was an event, affection or story scene, it felt quite rewarding so I was motivated to go through the gameplay part. It is important to keep in mind that there isn’t a real story going on in this game, but the player still can still get to know the girls better.
Food Girls Pre-Installed:
I found the visual novel and gameplay parts were well balanced so either of them didn’t get too boring nor draggy. Event scenes appear out of nowhere in the middle of the game whilst affection scenes do have to get unlocked by increasing the affection level. First of all, the story isn’t really in-depth here and I could immediately tell that this isn’t the focus in Food Girls.
