I was sceptical at first reading some reviews while this was in early access and hesitated to buy it till now (after the full release). However while it still has some bugs, it offers a lot of content and provides an enormous amount of fun to play! I didn’t expect to have such a great time shooting cardboard enemies! While a lot of weapons, upgrades and levels are available you need to unlock them first.
However it is not hard to unlock the levels and earn a lot of money to buy weapons and upgrades. In fact, some upgrades (e.g. the cheap laser-pointer) make the game very easy so you might want to stick to vanilla weapons or to choose the hardcore mode which disables the targeting help system and makes finishing a level very rewarding HUGE WEAPON VARIETY Pistols, SMGs, shotguns, assault rifles, grenade launchers; dozens of the most iconic weapons in the world, all intricately modelled with complete interactivity. UPGRADE & CUSTOMISE Unlock hundreds of different attachments and upgrades for your weapons. The picatinny rail system allows for limitless customisation. Stocks and scopes, extended mags and laser sights: customise your weapons to fit any scenario. INTERACTIVE RANGES Fire your weapons in a multitude of different range scenarios, from hostage rescue to the dreaded zombie apocalypse. And for true shooting purists there is the classic target range. No time limits, no scores, just you and your weapon.
I was hesitant to buy this since it came off as a worse H3VR but it has some merit. If you have to choose one or the other, though, definitely pick up H3VR. Pros: The weapon handling and customization is well done. The controls are a little wonky if you’re used to H3 but you can used to it. It has some voice acting and polish. Pretty good presentation. Cons: All the modes are basically the same. You shoot a bunch of targets within a couple minutes and you’re done. You can’t really do anything outside of the target modes and so there’s no lazy plinking modes like the shooting ranges in H3. You also have to earn in-game money to unlock all the weapons and upgrades and it’s a bit grindy. In H3 you have basically all the weapns available to mess around with from the start. Overall, it’s a decent complementary game to H3VR if you love messing around with guns in VR but it’s by no means a rival. Get H3VR first and this only if you want to do some more target shooting in a different environment.
