About The Game
Hundreds of years before Geralt and the other witchers roamed the Continent, the Conjunction of Spheres brought endless ranks of monsters into the world. Humanity desperately needed a way to fight back the onslaught to survive. Follow the journey of a young and ambitious mage, Alzur, and his companion Lily, who embark on a dangerous quest to create a living weapon that will eradicate the monster threat once and for all. GWENT: Rogue Mage is a first single-player expansion to GWENT: The Witcher Card Game. It combines the best elements of roguelike, deckbuilding, and strategy games with the unique mechanics of GWENT card battles.
I think there is one major problem in this game at the moment. It is this: you always play first every game, which means your opponent will get to play the last card that you just can’t do anything about, every time. And some opponents have some really big last play, even if you are 50 points or more ahead, you can still lose. And that is quite frustrating. Because every game I have to pray for the win instead of being able to calculate my win. Project Golden Nekker was first announced, I was hoping for another Thronebreaker type game. This isn’t that, as the narrative elements are a lot lighter, but the addition of Slay The Spire roguelite elements to the familiar world of The Witcher, all wrapped up in the excellent Gwent ruleset (albeit, a little trimmed down from Gwent multiplayer), makes for an excellent single-player, card game experience (it can be challenging!). I would highly recommend picking this up if you enjoy Monster Train, Slay the Spire, Inscryption or you’re a fan of anything Witcher/Gwent
