I was interested when the game first popped up in 2020 but I didn’t really have any plan on playing it since I didn’t really want to play as a straight couple. When I saw that they released an update that added the option to play same-sex couples, however, I was so happy. Honestly, games that give a good representation and experience for gays is a rare gem in the gaming industry. I love Kay and Yu, I love their relationship. It felt really peaceful when I first started gliding around, and when Kay drifted forward and caught Yu’s hand, it was a very warm feeling. I wish more games made you feel like that. The game-play itself was fun, I found the movement nice and fluid. The animations are really graceful and beautiful. Just fun to control in general. The combat is an interesting new take that I haven’t really seen before in a game, but I really liked it! It was refreshing and I actually found it very immersive considering the on-screen fight hud was more dynamic and absent then is usually present in similar games. Difficulty wise, I wouldn’t say it’s very difficult as long as you plan out moves strategically as well as keep Kay and Yu relatively healed up. There are some exceptions, mostly just the few boss battles that can prove somewhat challenging if not prepared, but it’s a nice challenge that makes it feel more like we are actually stuck on an alien planet trying not to die. Which, fair.
