The atmosphere, the aesthetics, the climbing and exploration, the silent narrative, the strong world building, the gorgeous, frail soundtrack. The contemplative mood, tinged with melancholy. All the lovely little touches like the ever changing main menu as you progress in the game, the little animations of the character resting his arms, or playing with lil buddy. It makes the act of climbing and navigating the walls and varied obstacles just that little bit more involved and I really enjoyed it. Each chapter introduces new mechanics and challenges, so it never becomes repetitive or stale. And you can always pause to gawk at the gorgeous vistas and wonder at the sounds and architecture. It’s a pretty unique indie title about reaching the top of a dauntingly massive ‘tower’ that hones in on climbing gameplay and uses journal entries and visual storytelling to convey its story.
