You simply weren’t offered the cards to buy at the in, got poor potion rewards, and didn’t have 3 of a kind to combine at a campfire. In fact, you can go through entire runs and only ever get the chance to combine 1 or 2 cards. The half your ‘choices’ were either to take a card that half helps or not. It could use maybe 1 more inn or something. Good start. There are holes to fill, such as a lack of progression and inability to customize the starting deck. However, the artwork is wonderful and it has a solid gameplay loop. Yes, RNG will be an issue but it often is in this genre. That’s why the lack of progression is so important. There is an attempt to make up for this in that artifacts get better as you play and unlock more and so do many of the cards. Leader bonuses can be very powerful, so it would seem to me that showing the player their importance from the beginning would be a good idea.

You might find a proper challenge on the next one. If the Devs read this, really the one thing I would hope to see might be to change how the challenges work to more like toggles, so you can mix and match them, or at the least up/down the difficulty in a generic way on any run: If you feel that you need hard mode 3 to be challenging, There are a bunch of different run modifiers though that add challenges or just make the game harder, as well as challenging yourself for more difficult builds or characters you aren’t as good with, so even though sometimes you might be phoning it in for a couple of floors at the end of a powerful run, I will have to face enemies that multiply if you are slow to kill them – better have some way of killing quickly or spreading damage.
