Horrorvale is a fantastic game not just for the Holiday season but as a whole. A very fun RPG with a wide lovable cast, well developed setting and world building, and fun gameplay. Combat is fun to experiment with due to teh wide cast of characters, even if the balance on some of the cast is… suspect. (By which I mean some characters can just feel like others but worse.) The setting has a lot of well written lore, and the story has just enough intrigue to keep you guessing while having reasonable foreshadowing for all plot points. Even side characters get well developed and written via a second sidequest for each party member, some of which combine two or more characters allowing for fun dynamics.
HorrorVale Pre-Installed:
First of all there are 3 forced party members. They talk a lot and while one of them is kinda a jerk this is portrayed as a joke. You’re meant to laugh at him a bit and see him as good hearted. However, if this doesn’t land for you, or either of the other two mandatory characters don’t click they become grating VERY quickly. I had this issue and genuinely just wanted one to shut the hell up, but even when I wasn’t using him, since he was one of these 3 key characters, he would appear in cutscenes often, making this problem worse. The balance is all over the place. Some characters are wildly overpowered and make the game a joke, (in fact it’s easy to set up a tank who takes 0 damage from almost every attack in the game including the superboss with proper set up) while others are less than useless.

- Once the game is done downloading, right click the .zip file and click on “Extract to” (To do this you must have 7-Zip or winrar, which you can get here).
- Double click inside the HorrorVale folder and run the exe application.
- Thats all, enjoy the game! Make sure to run the game as administrator and if you get any missing dll errors, look for a file named All In One Runtimes.exe run this and install it.
