Starting from scratch on an empty roof, explore your surroundings, find the necessary resources, tools and gadgets. Old microwaves, rusty cars and antique computers – all will be handy! Carefully disassemble the devices to get the necessary details and put them to use for creating futuristic gadgets according to the blueprints you’ll get you hands on. By the way, have we mentioned that you will get to have a cyborg hand? Upgrade it too! Make some friends so you won’t get too lonely! Upload AI into buildings. Create bots that do your chores.

What exactly happened with the civilization and how did you end up on the roof? The answers lay somewhere in the city ruins – would you try to get to the bottom of it? I’m by no means an expert when comes to sandbox survival games, nor in league with major base-building games out there. However, its laid back attitude pulled me in. Advertising itself as a Cozy Apocalypse Survival game, I Am Future is indeed as vibrant as it looks, but unfortunately, it’s not as cozy and relaxing as many would so eagerly hope for… At least, not just yet.

I Am Future is genuinely a fun title, but bends a bit too much into a “Time Management” game, or at least that’s the feeling I was left with, when first playing back in July 26th. Even though it was such an early build, up to this point, the main core mechanic and gameplay remain unchanged. With not a single trace of a past memory, our protagonist wakes from its cryogenic sleeping pod, willing to keep himself alive for as long as possible, aside the rest of the world being submerged and abandoned. As expected, players can craft, build, scavenge for resources, find and upgrade tools to improve your work abilities and create a new lifestyle. All of this, entirely based on rooftops, with amazing sunsets and bright night skies. There is absolutely no struggle to survive, nor is the main character ever in real danger.
