Imscared is a horror game that protagonizes the player and puts him in a surreal first-person experience. Find keys, open doors and search for the exit to this nightmare. But I have to let you know, it will try to deceive You as many times as it can. My only worry is that the game might be too easy. I’m less than fifty hours in and most runs I play I dont use any feathers and win most of the time. Every enemy is extremely telegraphed in their attacks and once you learn their patterns, it’s almost impossible to get hit by them unless you make a big mistake. Over time I will be even better at dodging and filling ability rotations and choosing upgrades that the game might get a little trivial. Really hoping we see higher nightmare levels of difficulty for sure. Solo and multiplayer feel balanced, I’ve only played with 1-3 people, so I cant comment on how well 4 player feels, but I’m sure its fine.
Unique characters is what interests me the most so far, each new character gives the game an entirely new feel; there’s characters for every persons play style and its just fun to try new things; there’s individuality with the upgrades you choose and the end result actually makes you feel strong. With more characters/maps/bosses, this game has potential to have some serious replayability. People might be happy for this but….I would definitely buy skins/pets just saying. The biggest downside to the game in its current state is that the gameplay loop is repetitive. There’s currently no hiding from the ghost, so when a hunt starts you’ll tend to just run to the opposite side of the house and kite it around in a circle. Most of the time there’s no real threat unless it hunts right next to you and instakills you at the start, which is very unfair.
IMSCARED Direct Play:
The game also suffers due to a lot of the inspiration taken from Phasmophobia. Most of the time the evidence revolves around waiting for Canvas Drawing (Ghost Writing in phasmo) or ESG evidence (DOTS in phasmo), which are not interactive and just pure unfun. You will need to rely on these evidence as ghost behaviors are not unique enough to differentiate. Secondary objectives also cannot be completed until everyone has locked in a ghost type. I really don’t like this since a lot of the tools you buy and bring in cannot be used until you’ve guessed the ghost. This core design is just bad and makes each round feel almost exactly the same.
