Kick Bastards is a parkour game with a heavy focus on varied and expressive movement mechanics. You will be pushed to master the deep movement systems to overcome varied challenges. The movement does have some jankiness compared to other first-person platformers, with finnicky wallrunning and acceleration that sometimes feels inconsistent. But in some ways that was a positive, and parts of this game had a Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy vibe (whether or not that was intentional from the dev) that made it satisfying to learn the quirks of movement. The kick as your main way to interact with everything is cool, fun, intuitive, and funny Executing a level well is satisfying and fun The aesthetic, gameplay, and tone work really well together Very fun little platforming game that is both accessible as a speedrunning game and has a decently high skill ceiling.

Some of the “kill all of the enemy” levels feel a bit clunky in the grand flow of the game but when the levels work and you’re wallrunning, sliding, and dropkicking your way through hell and an urban environment – the game really sings. High speed gameplay. There is NO CAP on your speed so you can build up crazy speed by comboing your moves together. Ultimate kicking simulation!! That’s right you kick stuff in the game called Kick Bastards. In fact you will kick a lot of stuff, so much stuff. All your kicking fantasies will be satisfied. Find your line! Every level is built so that you can find loads of different lines through them, including ones we don’t even know about! Varied and beautiful stages.

We put a lot of love and hard work into making the levels both exciting to play and great to look at! Combat is kicking. And it’s how I’d hope my legs worked if I went to Hell, or Nebraska. 1 hit will kill your enemies, and they can be kicked into doors, walls, off platforms, or into other enemies. You have a pretty incredible control over movement while in the air which allows you to line up your kicks to give you speed for moving towards new platforms or other enemies. It’s got everything it needs to be full featured but put the most love into examining every possible angle of one fantastic core mechanic. Creator of this game is a very accomplished stylist and level designer going off this title.
