Anything can happen on an adventure! Interact with characters, events environments to pick up new abilities… or crippling curses. Get all lovey-dovey with the three main characters as you experience their stories. Find out their needs, and let them satisfy yours… Completing the campaign unlocks and infinite challenge mode, with more random events and stronger enemies.
Take cover using the rich and varied environments, but watch out! Some of them can be destroyed… The pacing seems very slow. Runs take a long time because there are just so many rooms to clear before getting to a boss. If you’re the kind of person that feels obligated to full clear every level like I am there is a nice feature that speeds the game up once the rooms are clear, but it’s still a bit much. The combat is fast-paced and there is a big learning curve. You will have to make peace with the fact that you will die a lot. Dead Cells is hard, especially until you learn the different mob patterns and get used to the biome layouts but you will get rewarded for each run in a slow permanent progression. This might not be the game for you if you are looking forward to the lore part of the game. It’s not its strongest asset.

I had a blast with it and will definitely do a few more runs to explore some more secrets and things i missed. LOVE the memes and the references to internet culture, and especially the headbanging metal mixed with the axolotl cuteness! Definitely a must play game if you like roguelikes, are a chronically online person, and love metal and cute sprites! it still needs some tweaking here and there but it’s very enjoyable as it is if you dig a challenge! They could have different stat bonuses or unique skills to make them feel more useful when they’re all grown up. In my entire run i got 38 axolittles but only ended up turning 3 of them into adults to make different builds.
