Metsänpeitto’s darkness is treacherous, light up your way with a lighter and flashlight to investigate environments filled with items to find and mysteries to unveil… But don’t go too fast or you’ll get lost, use your compass if you ever want to escape this damned forest. You will encounter souls during your journey in Lempo. Follow them! They might show and tell you clues you’re looking for.
The story of Lempo lies in a dark fantastic world, Metsänpeitto. A plane kept together with souls’ energy received from living beings. This is no place for a human, do not dilly dally during your explorations as Metsänpeitto is a twisted realm where the laws of our world don’t matter. Or else you might encounter beings beyond the realm of possibilities. Experience a living nightmare with Lempo’s shivering visual and sound atmosphere. Paul is unfortunately not daydreaming. To escape this uncanny forest you will have to face unspeakable events and beings beyond your imagination. You won’t need to fight to escape the forest, but you will have to decipher puzzles during your exploration. Dig deep in Metsänpeitto’s mysteries and solve every puzzle you find. What might put some people off is that the game doesn’t really hold your hand much. You won’t always be told what your next move should be or what the solution to a puzzle looks like. My advice is to check everything that you can, including giving the documents and items a lot of scrutiny.

There are some heart-stopping scares and chases, but these are few and far between. Instead, it mainly derives its tension from an ever-present sense of danger and dread from the gravity of your situation. You’ll wander dark forests, navigating by landmarks rather than a magic arrow on a map. While there is a main path forward, you’re also rewarded for turning over every rock for items and information that can help you. It’s drenched in both horrifying and whimsical imagery and themes as it combines the darkest of old myths and fairy tales with modern perspectives, both on these stories themselves, and the mindsets we view them from. The puzzles are surprisingly difficult, and I was stuck a fair few times. This may be off-putting for those who just want to experience some spooks and story. However, they’re all fairly logical in their implementation, and very rewarding once you complete them. Thankfully, they are almost always self-contained to an area, and never require outside knowledge.
