Lewd Souls a new adult visual novel game called Lewd Souls is based on the anime Bleach. Your grandfather, the head of the Soul Society, passes away tragically in the story’s central arc, and you succeed him as a youthful leader. You must maintain cordial ties with the captains and administer Soul Society as effectively as you can in your new business. Of course, it’s up to you how you rule. In Deserts of Kharak’s campaign, an anomaly is discovered deep in the southern desert. An expedition is sent, but the story is not that simple. Discover the story of Rachel S’jet as she leads her people on a quest to find their destiny in an exciting campaign. Losing a veteran unit you’ve had with you for the past five missions really hurts. The unit roster is limited but enough for the length of the campaign. The objectives are also varied enough that no particular mission felt like a slog or a repeat of something done before.
Be aware that there is no borderless windowed mode, you cannot remap your controls and you cannot skip any cutscenes. Skirmish is quite boring and the balancing and mechanics of units work quite differently from the campaign, It took me just over 8 hours to finish the campaign on normal. Each mission you carry your units over to the next so the next mission can be easier based on what survived the last. All the missions have a fast pace to them which is good and bad. Take control of fleets of land and air vehicles – from nimble light attack vehicles to massive heavyweight cruisers – built to conquer the desert. Resources feel limited and you have to be careful with what you have so it’s very tactical. Really enjoy the Homeworld storytelling and art style. Visuals and weapon effects are satisfying.

Definitely worth picking up in a sale. Would love to see a sequel with better unit positioning and mod support. This leads to tense and often funny situations where someone gets a little too paranoid and goes on a shotgun rampage… only to be stabbed in the back by the actual Dissident. Things feel surprisingly balanced so far, though there is definitely a gun meta that probably needs to be addressed – you cannot select the amount of guns, or even a percentage – it’s other on or off. In smaller groups, this can mean that everyone is a little too well armed, though that leads to silly scenarios in itself. Genuinely well developed, looks beautiful, great sound design, and a brilliant varied soundtrack on the cassette tapes! Leagues better than Among Us, it has a similar gameplay loop but with all the issues worked out.
