From a casual Magical Drop II/III player perspective this is a really well done continuation of the series after that AWFUL disaster of Magical Drop V. The game feels super responsive, there is a lot of content, and the music is super nice. My biggest issues with the game are how awkward some of the animations are that makes this game look “cheap”, that is a shame because the 2D art is quite good, and how you have to unlock every single character (Apparently the devs patched the game so you start with 4, originally you only had one!).
But besides that, I think that this is an easy reccomend for those that want a modern way of playing Magical Drop. Magic Drop 3 on Fightcade, couldnt imagine them somehow making something better, the graphics are so much cleaner, theres a tricky way to rebind controls that helps if you are using a fightstick, and also the aesthetic is true to the series just upgraded and after watching the livestream debut on frosty fight club immediatly went and got it, so far i havnt unlocked Death (my fav character) because you gotta go do a buncha stuff in story mode but have gotten addicted to the Survival game mode, the multiplayer is a little too tough for me but am working my way up there, this is a very fun and addicting game i use to calm down after playing too many FPS games.

The music is the quality I’ve come to expect from Magical Drop titles and the new story mode is great. I really enjoy the new criteria to clear stages that makes me play in new ways instead of just steam rolling a CPU opponent. I look forward to seeing what new modes they add. Aside from this, I had high hopes of a game that finally has all of the characters of the series in one entry that is easy to get ahold of, but that they are added as DLC is a bit of a mixed blessing. I hope that the new devs release more than just characters, because so far, this new entry is thumbs up from me. highly recommended.
