The new combat system does take longer than the old (which might annoy some people), but the old was about setting up combos in advance then just repeating them over and over. The new system adds action points which you spend to use different moves each turn; it allows fights to have some variety. Items now have ‘levels’. Before a leather bracelet was forever the same with the same stats and bonuses. Accidentally missing one scene would ruin the entire run through. This was very tedious to keep track of in every Neptunia game. Now you are given access to all scenes and the ‘true’ ending without having to do anything in particular. Allowing players to focus on the story more than a hidden to-do list.
