In the not-too-distant future. America has been torn apart by a savage force known only as the ‘Miasma’. Meet Elvis, a young man brought to the mining town of Sedentary as a baby. Left by his mother in the care of a robotic older ‘brother’ and given a mysterious glove with which he can control the Miasma. Join the brothers on a quest across a post-apocalyptic wasteland to find the answers they crave. Answers which may change the course of human history forever. Game has full controller support, no problem here, bindings are great. When it comes to graphic settings, better change some of them from ultra to high mid – no worries, it still will be a top-notch experience compared to other tactics games! Only thing missing is that you cannot adjust size of in-game texts but it is a minor inconvenience.
Created by the same team that brought us Mutant Year Zero. That game was fairly great. Short, but wonderfully done with character and flair by a new team. Fast forward to Miasma. Game oozes extremely capable dev work. Everything done in the graphics department is stellar. Character models, textures, set design and placement of real world items and materials. Just stellar work. It’s like our world actually had something very bad go wrong. If you wished the Xcom games were a bit more “realistic” then this is right up your alley. Combat seems to be your basic “put guy here, then shoot or flank, etc” move set. There’s verticality spread throughout, so, just like MYZ and the Xcom games, you get bonuses for going to high ground and shooting down.
Miasma Chronicles Pre-Installed:
Cover is simplistic but works. Full cover gives you an 80% chance to negate damage. Partial cover only gives 50%. No random numbers just straight and to the point. I appreciate this. I haven’t unlocked a whole lot yet but what I have unlocked and discovered so far leads me to believe there’s a LOT MORE going to happen with my inventory, objects, powers, bullets, etc. Plenty of empty and open spaces I haven’t gotten to yet that fill me with anticipation at what is around the bend in gameplay. Plenty of armament upgrade options seem possible as well as special powers and other items and skills.
