Moonleap is a game about a moon boy on his journey to recover shooting stars. Change day to night with your jump and catch all the stars in this short and challenging puzzle-platformer! A really well designed little puzzle platformer. Great level ideas without repetition or any mechanic overstaying it’s welcome. Lovely pixel art and pleasant tunes too! Here is a little story of the moon boy whose quest is to recover shooting stars. It sounds like an easy task, if I may say so. But you see, the little moon boy is, perhaps, a little dyslexic as every time he jumps, the platform changes from being safe to dangerous and vice-versa. The bugger is that single shooting stars are always confined in small places, and he needs to figure out how to safely get to them one by one. Maybe a little leap of faith might help, but I am not so sure it will be useful to our little boy, in Moonleap.
Moonleap is a pixelated precision puzzle platformer game developed and self-published by guselect on the 12th of April 2023 on the Steam platform. The game has 40 visible levels and 10 secret levels within the main map. What a clever and well-designed puzzle platformer; you will not only need to use your grey matter to figure out the level, but you’ll also have to be precise. It can be frustrating at times, but so much fun to play. After a small introduction, the moon boy will stand alone on the screen, and there are only two ways for him to go. When you find the right way, moon boy will see five windows which are basically the levels. After that, you’ll need to clear 10 levels to unlock the door to reach the next 10 playable levels, and so on and so forth. Make sure to carefully check every corner of the map as you’ll discover secret levels to play.
Moonleap Pre-Installed:
The first few levels are logical and easy to complete, but new elements, such as moving blocks and bats, to mention a few, will be introduced to make the level a little more tricky. And in some levels, jumping will affect which direction the blocks move. But what threw me off for a while was when the moon boy’s direction changed the platform (safe to dangerous and vice versa) and directions of the block instead of the jump action. Boy, that was a struggle. The other thing that is on several levels, is that you can drop the moon boy down through a cavity, and he will reappear from the top of the screen onto a platform you couldn’t reach before.
