And the best thing is, you can do it from a teeny tiny laptop not meant to play games on (speaking from experience). Exploration, farming, friendships & romance, mining, crafting, house decoration, this game has it all. One big question remains though: Does it have a fishing minigame? You start on an island with a town ( and I did build my house here just to be near the town npcs), but there are over 100 islands in the game and you can travel to them with a broom that you can eventually fix or just by building bridges you craft from stone and rock. So, the flow of the game is up to you – which direction do I head out in? What’s waiting for me there??? The islands have dungeons that have loot in them and combat. Combat is a turn based affair like Pokemon, where you can exploit weaknesses to gain crushing victories. There are apparently over 100 monsters to recruit that you can bring on your adventure. I have not played enough to get into the details of what else lies in store, but I can tell you that if you enjoy Stardew Valley or similar life sim games, and do not mind a moderate amount of combat added to the mix. then this is an easy recommend.

Moonstone Island is a game that brings together several genres and mixes them into one fantastic experience, from its life-sim to its dungeon exploration, monster-catching and card battling. It aims for and revolves around inclusion and diversity, and the personalities of each cast member make you want to get to know them. Despite having a full plate of mechanics, the studio has managed to prove that they didn’t bite off more than they can chew, and have left me in awe with this true gem of a game. The title follows the story of our character, a young girl (as I understand it has no defined gender, but for review purposes I’ll use she) who is preparing to begin a journey away from her home and family, in pursuit of completing her alchemist training. In between some quick basic tutorials, we’ll get a medallion that will allow us to store Spirits (I’ll get to this), and after a touching farewell, the protagonist will set off on her flying broom; though it won’t last long, as one thing will lead to another and she’ll end up crashing on an unknown island. What a rocky start! Fortunately, the island where our character fell is inhabited, and together with the villagers who live there, we will begin our adventure.
