About The Game
MaD2 is a highly customizable virtual stressball and physics sandbox about mutilating ragdolls in various ways using an overwhelming amount of weapons and tools. Use hundreds of weapons to mutilate disposable ragdolls designed for weapons testing. Don’t worry, they can’t feel anything.) Hello, I wanted to give everyone a fair heads up on some of the technical details for the game for transparency. The game itself is pretty great in my biased opinion, and has provided some dedicated players hundreds of hours of gameplay, but there are some technical things I for one would want to know when buying a game: MaD2 is an established web game being released here packaged with Adobe AIR due to web Flash end-of-life.
The resolution is a bit weird 1066×600 (16:9) due to being developed on the web. It can be upscaled and fullscreened at the cost of performance. The game is locked to 60fps. It should be reachable with a decent system in a reasonable ragdoll-mutilating scenario, but since it is a sandbox game it is very possible to tank the fps by doing crazy sandbox stuff. Now with the depreciation of Flash, it appears all work will be put into this version of the game rather than the one on Kongregate. Even with the rise in popularity of People Playground this game has its own unique features and additions which make the game worthwhile to come back to (MaD2 has had a lot more time to add things as well, so it is much more packed with items and tools
One of the most atmospheric games I have played in recent years. The story is great – and this is what this game is all about. It is a game which takes itself seriously. If you haven’t notived by the visuals already, this is not your usual Monkey Island type of adventure. Compared to comic books, this could be entitled graphic novel. The voice actors are very well chosen, as they deliver the atmosphere very well. Looking at the graphics, they are for sure not high-res SSAO 2xAA 3D whatnot. But that doesn’t matter, the 2D pixels are perfect for this game. The puzzles are most of the time very well thought through, but I must admit that I’ve taken a peek into the walkthrough sometimes, as I got impatient following the story as I couldn’t figure out the solution fast enough.
