My Grandparent’s House is a first-person survival horror experience where you must play as a ten year old boy exploring a horrifying house and unraveling the mystery that lies within. Every game intends to be unique, as puzzle solutions, item placement and a part of the house are randomized. Unlock ten story-driven documents and six unique endings. I enjoyed this game’s tension a lot, especially because it doesn’t depend on cheap jumpscares, but a really tense atmosphere. Even though it is really short, the many endings and random events can get make each playthrough very unique, increasing it’s replayability Within an hour, you will have your own pet, fruit trees, crops, cows, sheep, and so much more. This game gets moving quick, and the faster you complete the various tasks for the folks in the Valley, the faster you will gain different things. There is crafting, repairing, cuddling, playing, and so much more. It’s a fully fledged farming and life simulation experience, and not one I was expecting.
That doesn’t mean this game doesn’t have a few odd issues. I had some audio issues when trying to record gameplay, and had to open and close the built in video recorded to get the audio to work correctly. There are also little gameplay hiccups that get annoying. If foragable items fall to close to something else, you can’t actually pick them up. Instead, you will be asked to do another task altogether, like dismantling a fence. It’s minor, and rarely was an issue, but it was still there. A Junior Farmer! Doesn’t that sound important? Or, at the least, it’s definitely something that should be treated very seriously. Your very own vegetable patch to take care of, and your very first and very own treehouse to build. Sometimes, there are even real dangers to face, like defending the farm inhabitants from wolfpacks! For these challenges, you’ll need a faithful companion at your side. One that’s a bit more useful than an old, outspoken scarecrow saying some preeeetty crazy stuff about the farm and its surroundings.

In Everdream Valley you will get the chance to direct the actions of an 11-year-old boy spending his summer holiday at his grandparents’ farm. By day, the Junior Farmer will have to help his guardians run the farm. This means taking care of your very own vegetable patch. Searching for parasites destroying crops, holes in the fence or broken agricultural tools, and reporting all issues to grandparents. It’s also very important to make friends with the farm’s long-time resident, The Cat, so he starts hunting pests or chasing away the birds that feed on the fruits and grain. All while not forgetting to train The Dog that accompanies you to live in the country, herd the sheep or scare away wolfpacks threatening the farm.
