My ship was big enough to take any pirate ship I encountered. However, they could still board my ship and do some damage until I got more crew. The AI was smarter than I expected and surprised me sometimes. The quests can sometimes be repetitive but somehow still pulls you in to continue the grind. The crafting mechanics is good and gathering resources can actually be fun.
Nebula Nomads Direct Play:
Devs came up with a fun servant system, where you can recruit enemies to serve you and venture on hunts, defend your castle etc. They couldn’t add a function of using those servants to aid you in boss battles if playing solo? They could at least be a meat-shield or could pick you up when downed. The boss fights can be challenging but that’s where the settings can be adjusted (among other things as well). It has a nice base building system with some good additions for decoration The game makes you feel that every action has weight, and often you’re left feeling several steps behind where you need to be. The pace is flexible, with options like a “free” mode for a more relaxed experience.
