Nightwatch is a short mystery game where you play as Daniel, a security guard. This night shift, you’re hired by a new company to surveil its facility, but you’re not on your own; you have Jenny, your best friend, and colleague, to guide you through the night with the walkie-talkie. Why does this security company, out in the middle of nowhere, need you? The mystery of the night holds many secrets. The game is a first-person view game. You will be able to choose between different dialogues depending on what you want to ask or answer your coworker Jenny, and you will run into different types of puzzles. The artwork will make you feel absorbed in the game. It is inspired by Firewatch. You play a security guard who is assigned to monitor a weather station in the woods. You take out your walkie-talkie from the car and proceed towards your workstation. The game is completely linear.
You can sometimes choose your reaction, but it doesn’t really matter because you always get the same result. The trouble begins when you realize there is someone else in the forest. It turns out that you did something and now the past is coming back to haunt you. However, this is a very short walking experience. It takes around 30 minutes, so the game has to be played in a single session. There’s no saving and nothing that can kill you. A cheap game with a good story. I actually am surprised with the story and the fact that there was voice acting Things dont go according to plan of course. Features voice overs, dialogue choices, and an intriguing story. Doesn’t hurt to give it a go. You follow the instructions of the game while conversing with Jenny, a girl on the other end of the line.

As a huge fan of Lem and his works i had been extremely excited, but also anxious about this game. After playing it i have to say that those fears were entirely unfounded. The studio has made an incredible job of bringing the original’s atmoshpere and message to life. The game draws heavily from Lem, who as an author tended to focus way more on the subtle philosophical connundrums revealed through his worlds, rather than more conventional storytelling. My advice to you – the player is to treat this game as an experience, an open question to challange you in more ways than a conventional brain teaser would.
