In the captivating and intuitive game “Only Up 2” players are faced with a clear but challenging mission: navigate through the obstacles, maintain your balance, and keep climbing until you reach the very top. Climb out of the favellas and secure the highgrounds in the biggest map and journey you’ve ever seen before! The new flashback tapes are like the death routes in the old games. You must get to them without dying except now instead of jumping on a platform which transports you to a harder part of the level, you unlock an entirely new mini-level for each tape you collect. I would call these levels “platforming overload”, they are all about jumping on boxes and precise movement. Not easy but not as punishing as the main levels when you die. Also quite enjoyable are the character levels, in which you play as some of the allies/villains of the Crash universe instead of Crash/Coco. They all have their own unique abilities that change the dynamic of these levels of which there are two types: full-length and mini character levels.
The full-length ones are part of the main story path and you play as a different character for the whole level. Nothing wrong with that. It is the mini levels I don’t quite understand, but more on that later. Speaking of time I put into the game, I feel like the length is artificially bloated. The levels can be unreasonably long (consider 130 boxes a short level) and in some cases you need to play them up to six times: normal, normal + time relic, N. Verted, mini character level, mini character level + time relic, mini character level N. You play a new level as a different character for a couple of minutes and then you get back to the original level with Crash/Coco, starting somewhere in the middle and having to finish it again.

These should have been either extended to full-length levels or cut short. I don’t really see the point of having to redo the main level. The graphic designers have packed an immense amount of details and small animations into every square centimeter, which perfectly illustrate the fundamentally flawed concept of the game, and the four Crash is a joy to look at not only while jumping quickly, but also in a situation where you just stop and soak up the atmosphere. Very soon, however, a jumping hell begins with sliding platforms, chasms, flamethrowers, rotating blades and strange monsters whose only desire is to trample you, dismember you or swallow you outright.
