It’s a change of pace to not have the everyone gets along always and we’re happy all the time thing going on. It does need some improvement though. The interaction button (E) is fidgety. Sometimes it doesn’t register when I’m at a door and I want to open it, or if I want to water my crops. Sometimes it doesn’t even offer me the square that indicates I can water, even when the soil is dry.

Another thing is the map. It would be nicer to have one whole map, or smaller individual ones, to indicate where shops and people are. It took me a bit to find some of the shops and the people. There is no limit to how many gifts you can give a villager on any given day. I gave Devin roughly 100 oranges in a single day and suddenly he went from a complete stranger to my best friend. When I went to buy seeds (which, as far as I can tell, you can buy on any day), I was given the information about the seed and plants whenever I had them selected. How much they cost, how much they sell for, how long they grow, how many days in-between growths. All right there.
