Paradox of Hope is a story-driven VR shooter with survival and horror elements. Feel the life of a real stalker as you explore the mysterious labyrinths of the post-apocalyptic Moscow metro. Raids” is an extraction based game mode with a procedural level generation. Test your survival skills in a deadly environment. Prepare yourself. And then it takes all that and cuts it into bite sized proc gen raid dungeons that are in the perfect sweet spot of terrifying, satisfying, just long enough to feel dangerous and involved, and just short enough to fall into the “One more run,” mindset of the likes of Until you Fall. You load up, spend 30 minutes crawling and fighting through the dark claustrophobic tunnels, and just when the stress is getting too much, you’re home and safe and prepping for the next raid. On top of that, this game has the most satisfying virtual stock I’ve ever used in a game. It doesn’t just snap to your shoulder, but to your headset, raising and lowering the weapon subtly to maintain eye alignment. Every rifle shot feels smooth and seamless, and it simulates proper cheekweld better than any VR game I’ve played, and I’ve played quite a lot. The story is basic and barebones for now, existing as a prototype first chapter and a teaser for the story, but it’s fully voice acted (In Russian) and has potential to be a fun Metro-esque romp in VR. But don’t be fooled by the high bar there, the meat of this game is well and truly in the Raids.
Paradox of Hope VR Pre-Installed:
When you’re at critical health, you cannot sprint and move slower than normal walk speed with full health, now this WOULD be okay, but in this case, it really kills the pacing of the game, and makes dregging though areas frustrating because if you’re out of ammo, there’s not a whole lot you can do, you’re not fast enough to outrun anything, and it’s just not a fun mechanic imo. My suggestion is, Keep full speed walking but no sprint, Or allow sprinting at low health but with reduced stamina or reduced speeds. There is a section directly after the molotov moment, when you need to use a flamethrower to burn pods, I got hardlocked here too, because if you are unsure of what to do (And i was at first as objectives are not explained properly and shown in any detail) you run out of ammo and you have to restart checkpoint, which is back before the molotovs, which i was at low health at, so i had to crawl at a snails pace all the way back just to redo the section i messed up, Second time, i destroyed what i thought was all of them, yet the door still did not open, My suggestion is to clearly define objectives better, and maybe give a number on screen so that you know how many pods you need to burn and clearly designate what counts as a pod and what doesn’t as some gunk will burn but i don’t think they count as pods.
