Pile Up! is a chill strategic building game in which you need to place and manage unique buildings on a small island to make beautiful cities, grow your land, reach higher populations and unlock new buildings and islands! BUILD! Stack your buildings over a small island to make beautiful cities and to increase your population. Complete islands and discover new ones to make more interesting cities. Or hop into the Sandbox and build without limitations! I think with some game mechanic changes this could be a good game. Currently though it is much more of a relaxing architecture / block stacking game with some Tetris-style mechanics. I would really love to see more resource management when it comes to utilities and less randomization as almost everything is decided by what cards / buildings you draw vs skill or strategy. I hope they make some changes to make the game more fun as currently many lose conditions are not the players fault. Also building relationships are almost entirely one dimensional or not important at all.
That said it is beautiful in its design and graphics. There is an unlock / progression system that mainly unlocks additional buildings which provide some mechanic changes but not really anything super deep. Still recommending due to low price and a good chill out game to play here and there. A strategic, fun and relaxing city building game! As you make your city, you have to keep your civilians happy by fulfilling their needs and requirements by placing the appropriate fulfilling buildings. It has a game mechanic where you are forced to place down all buildings so you can end your “turn”. Some buildings you can place allow you to “hold” some buildings allowing you to end your turn early.
