You take control of a dilapidated submarine in this unglamorous portrayal of the drug smuggling underworld, which is very different from the high-tech ships seen in movies. Put away thoughts of quiet operations and svelte subs. In the late stages of capitalism, while the wealthy possess yachts and you have, well, a barely working submarine pieced together from scraps, Poor Man’s Adventure plungs you into the thick of things. But really, that’s what makes this game so great! You’re a contemporary pirate forging your own path in a world of avarice. Your days are spent searching the vast seas for treasure and plundering the opulent yacht wrecks for supplies.
Each bolt, sheet of metal, and technological junk becomes a prize that you may use to upgrade and maintain your submersible vehicle. You can even try your hand at raising your own cash crop—yes, you can grow marijuana in your apartment to pay for your business! However, life isn’t only sunshine and dubious plant life. To process your resources, negotiate the perilous waterways, and stay out of the authorities’ sight, you’ll need to oversee automated factories. I played with it on a few machines and realized it’s caused by a low-quality GPU trying to run the game, & if you set the game’s graphics quality to Very Low it will fix it. Graphics still look good tbh, reminds me of the late 2000’s, or “7 DAYS TO DIE” quality. I found a nice blue one that had 2 storage chests, 4 nearby animals, a rock outcrop+trees very close, and no zombies close enough to agro. Plus a trashbag outsize had a Bandage spawn. I basically just moved my camp marker up-stairs, build a fire+forge up there next to my tent, then put a bunch of gardens and rain barrels on the outer wall.

The thing is, you create your character, customize it, choose a name, all of that, but that character is going to be the worst character you will have, your initial body starts with a maximum proficiency of 50 (can increase it up to 70) on every single skill, meanwhile captured tribesmen can roll up to 125, they can also have class skills, and traits like self healing while standing still. Increasing your proficiency on weapons gives you more abilities to use with that weapon, and some passive perks that increase damage done, reduces stamina cost, things like that. Crafting proficiency makes crafting faster and gives you a higher chance of getting double the amount of crafts done. I do think this system is poorly explained, implemented and that they should change some aspects of it. I like the idea of playing as the mask and not just one character, but maybe they shouldn’t make you create a character, customize it, name it, just to have it sit at the base for most of the game.
