Secondly, on that note, the difficulty spike coming out of the tutorial is INSANELY hard. This is partly because the default difficulty is supposed to be hard, but also because you begin with an underpowered vehicle, and the AI always uses vehicles close to the maximum allowed points for that race. You only need to get 1 star in an event to get the upgrade from that event, first place is NEVER necessary. As long as you don’t come in last place, you “win”, and this is what allows you to get the parts required to get your vehicle up to snuff and keep up with the AI. It’s still going to be hard, but you’re not supposed to be able to speed through to first place right as you begin. The B-license races are NOT an extended tutorial, it’s the real deal right out of the gate. Third, the physics are going to feel different, because they are. Your Redout 1 skills will carry over, but it will feel very different and I don’t believe this to be bad at all. Races shift quite a bit away from extremely tight drift management to much more complex boost and speed management. You have essentially 3 boost gauges to juggle, counting overheat and the giga turbo thing. Your health gauge is a rechargeable boost gauge now, and overheating has a lot of pros and cons to it. It will take a while to get used to, and you will feel much slower than the opponents until you do. That said, the turning and grip behavior has changed a bit to be a little more forgiving in some areas I feel, so you have a bit of freedom for expression.
