In Rescue Team: Magnetic Storm, you find your world in danger once again, but this time by unprecedented natural disasters caused by intense solar activity. As you navigate through a city in chaos, you’ll act as the guiding hand for a team of rescue workers tasked with restoring order and helping the people in need. With each level presenting new challenges, you must repair electrical systems, rescue stranded or trapped people, and gather crucial resources while avoiding dangerous hazards such as electrified water and boiling lava. Along the way, you’ll encounter panicked citizens suffering from a variety of health issues caused by the magnetic storms and encounter wild animals disoriented by the disturbances to their nervous systems. As you progress through the levels, you’ll work alongside Dr. Ross and his team of scientists to investigate the cause of the magnetic storms and find ways to protect the population from their harmful effects. With limited time and resources, you must make strategic decisions to prioritize your actions and help those in the greatest need.
The game has the immediate advantage of malleability; the default difficulty settings are just presets which can be managed at will, and the game remains fun with or without resource management. There is no punishment for tailoring the difficulty either, which is welcome. The gameplay and mechanics are deliberately quite simple so there is not going to be much here for people who want more complex systems (don’t expect Green Factorio) but it’s nice to be able to sway the game towards a zen game or a more optimisation-focused puzzle. A very calming game. The “normal” difficulty provides jusssssttt enough to be a puzzle without having to actually think through everything. Once you do all the continents once the new locations it opens up shake things up just enough to keep that difficulty curve just high enough to be engaging without losing any of the relaxation.

I’m still going to recommend the game. It has a refreshing concept of actually helping the environment, as well as cleaning up after oneself (and one’s messy ancestors). A wonderful lesson for anyone who might want to play with their children, and wholesome as all heck. The visuals are beautiful, and the sound and music contribute to a nice, tranquil mood. You might make mistakes and have to start over on a new randomization of your current map type, but that’s okay. You’ll have learned things, and maybe next time you’ll think of new ways to approach different challenges.
