Scholar’s Mate is an immersive first-person horror experience that puts you in the shoes of Judith, a young woman who wakes up in the gloomy facilities of a psychiatric hospital. You must escape from this macabre place by solving mysteries while avoiding capture by Eddie, your sinister hunter. A first person horror escape room. Explore and solve the hidden secrets of the hospital to escape. Relentless pursuit by Eddie. Experience the tension with an original soundtrack and immersive sound effects designed to create an eerie atmosphere. I found myself in the same spot from the demo played last year (stuck) but I managed to solve a particular puzzle. That’s progress right there. Graphically the game looks fine. The atmosphere is well done. I do like the voice acting as well which adds to the experience. The game used the same map that other horror games have used unfortunately but it has it’s own flair bein’ that this game has a story to tell. I don’t think the price tag will break the bank too much for those lookin’ to give it a shot.
Where you can play as four different class characters to complete another story in a mission-based format, battle with others in a PvEvP game mode, or tackle a three-chapter raid with friends. This is a game I can recommend everyone go out and get all achievements for because they really take you through all that this wonderful game has to offer. The second title is already in the works, and I am definitely going to be all over it day one. That’s it, that’s how you kill every enemy in Ghost of Tsushima, which makes an extremely easy game brainlessly simple and extremely repetitive combat-wise. Even with the different stances and special moves, the core combat loop doesn’t change much throughout the game. They are no different at side missions or open-world activities, which make them feel like fillers. The repetitive nature of the dialogue and the predictable structure of the missions contribute to this sense of monotony. These detract from the overall impact of the story.

I found the scenario very predictable, the villain extremely generic, and the characters very uninteresting overall. The sound design is pretty good. The traditional Japanese instruments and melodies enhance the atmosphere. The ambient sounds, like the rustling leaves and flowing water, make the world feel more immersive. The combat sounds, from the clash of swords to the arrows flying, are crisp and impactful. The story is pretty solid and I enjoyed playing it. There’s great moments that I really enjoy and there aren’t many issues with it aside from how short it feels. If you only focus on doing the story quests, you will complete it fairly quickly. The story is quite interesting; you play as Jin, who struggles with his family, and the conflict between honor, tradition, and the brutal impact of war on his home and code.
