Shrot is a bite-sized old-school action RTS set on a sandy planet with horses, tractors and techno music. The game draws inspiration from Paranoia, a Czech remake of Dune 2 and the third real-time strategy game ever made, released only in the Czech Republic in 1995. Shrot changes the formula by adding a mix of modern features and leaning towards faster, more action-packed gameplay. Deep Plot The newly discovered virgin planet Scheeza is a significant source of wild-growing hops, whose aroma entices traders from all corners of the galaxy. Three discordant clans, fueled by unbridled power-hungriness, compete to seize this cosmic paradise, plunging the planet into the flames of war. But in the darkness of space and unbeknowst to the clans, the planet hides yet another secret. 3 playable stellar clans, each with a different color Randomly generated battles that never play out the same way Base building, hops mining, and large-scale battles lasting hours with hundreds of units and thousands of casualties Voice acting by my mom Viktorie Techno soundtrack as the most suitable background.
After completing a true modern masterpiece 3D Action HROT I was quite happy to see the developer working on a new product. I’m not sure if i qualify for a veteran, but I remember myself playing Dune on Sega Genesis (I had my own Sega Megadrive variant at the time), and I really liked it. Fast, instant, “back to the roots” real-time strategy, with modern controls, simple but polished 3D graphics and plenty of action. Love it! Makes you wonder why there are not more retro RTS games out there. The soundtrack is great on its own but also really fits the vibe of the game. Gameplay is simple yet draws you in as you get new structures / units to play around with each mission. Great stuff! With a top-down perspective and a radar in the corner showing all enemy locations (even on adjacent screens) the game is pretty generous at giving you the tools to remain undetected instead of using unpredictability as a substitute for difficulty.
Shrot Direct Play:
This game improves over its predecessor in a number of major ways. The design and layout of the map is far better at keeping up the pressure with nearby enemies without feeling overbearing or too simple. At the same time, it avoids the constant backtracking of the previous game by introducing plenty of shortcuts and a more centralized structure for the base so that no part of the map is absurdly far away. Each chord is a journey, every refrain a revelation. The melody dances with a bittersweet melancholy, yet its beauty is undeniable, drawing you in with its raw, unbridled honesty. Combat wounds and equipment wear still have to be fixed between battles, but you barely need any items for that, and is much faster than before. Game was fantastic through and through. Set design was outstanding, combat was engaging, humor/playing on tropes was great, and it had a great mix of tactical macro/micro gameplay and light management.
