Silent Hill 3 , is the third installment in the Silent Hill survival horror series. It is the second game to be released on the PC and PlayStation 2, and unlike Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill 4: The Room, it was never ported to the original Xbox. The game was developed by Team Silent and published by Konami, and it launched in North America on August 6, 2003. The plot begins Seventeen years after the events of the first game, and the baby whom the Incubator gave to Harry Mason at the end of the first game, Heather Mason, is now a teenage girl. The main character, a young girl named Heather, is a child saved by Harry Mason from the hands of the occult organization Order. 17 years after the destruction of their former “God”, the cultists reappear in Heather’s life, claiming her rights. Now the girl will be immersed in her own nightmares, bloody battles with monsters and cruel cultists, as well as a return to the accursed city. Harry took Heather into his care to raise as his own daughter.
All of which is exacerbated by the ill health in which we find the game’s puzzles. Survival horror games traditionally thrive on fiendish problem solving, forcing the player to pierce through a fog of adrenaline and fear to defeat the conundrums that bar his path. But here the answers to your problems fall into place as easily as a jigsaw marked ‘for ages three and up’. Typically, the object needed to complete any given brain-teaser will be handed to you on a plate a few rooms previous, and all you need do is shuffle up to the puzzle in question and click to make things happen. Silent Hill 3 has three official endings – “Normal”, “Possessed” and “Revenge”, two of which can only be achieved with additional playthroughs and a certain number of points, depending on the player’s choice.
