Silt is a surreal underwater puzzle-adventure game. Alone in an underwater abyss, you are a diver searching the deep to uncover long-forgotten mysteries. Silt is a quite interesting adventure through the depths of the ocean that has some interesting concepts implemented on the main gameplay mechanics. The progression and difficulty curve of the puzzles is quite good, but you need to know that near the end of the game you might encounter a few huge spikes in difficulty, in those few moments is when you can see the weak points of the game but appart from that the rest of the game is REALLY smooth and REALLY good. Appart from that I would just add that the hub/section between chapters could have felt better with some visual orientation for the player since I got lost and confused for a few minutes there (but that can be just my.
The atmosphere is great and it’s a short and overall enjoyable game but with notable flaws. Unlike Limbo or Inside which seem the most comparable this is significantly easier and feels like there’s less there to experience. Puzzles are usually nothing more than finding the right critter to possess to open the way, with occasionally needing a few different critters per screen as you advance. It’s mostly in the fourth and final area that it tries to add more danger by needing to move at specific times or open a way and quickly move. Even then it won’t take long to figure out what to do. It does look really nice and I like the aesthetic, I just feel more could have been done with the deep sea theme and terrifying monsters to threaten you.
