Both games have access to the same crafts* SimplePlanes includes an aircraft builder, SimplePlanes VR does not. Except for those which require building; all challenges, islands, locations, aircraft, etc. are available in both games. Buying both of them on Steam will automatically enable VR in SimplePlanes. After VR is enabled in SimplePlanes you can do everything there, without switching games. If I had to list SP’s weaknesses, there really are a few. The map in general is straight up barren and not too interesting to explore, downloading a few others might help, but it’s really easy to get a sort of “gm_construct vibe” even with AI air, ground, and sea traffic around. There are cool things to see, but it’s lonely. On loneliness – multiplayer would easily turn SP into the greatest of all time for what it offers – if it ever happened, and it hasn’t outside of a “functional” mod that works, but only technically. Alongside both of these issues, the general visuals of the game are what you would expect for a game made to run on mobile phones back in 2013 – lens flare and reflections – but no meaningful visuals. It’s okay, but I often find myself yearning for the cloud-surfing in Project Wingman or Ace Combat when i actually fly the planes I make, and no mod has ever been able to fix this issue without destroying the game’s framerate.
