I didn’t let that stop me from playing – since I wanted to experience the “gentle puzzle exploration” it promises to provide. Accompanied by great, even a little soothing, music, wonderful SFX and exquisite visuals – that made me nostalgic for the PS2 era somehow – the question is, did it deliver? It’s undeniable that it did and yet at the same time didn’t, at least in my opinion; there were some things that weren’t entirely to my liking. Sky Tales cleverly combines exploration and puzzle-solving; simple and effective yet not always so clear. On one side, the puzzles are straightforward and frequently involve matching colours and shapes or other simple fun tasks and even if you were to be stuck – you can easily request a hint without any penalty to help you along the way again; on the other hand, you can come across missions that require you to compete in a complicated race or score attack to obtain a quest item and set a record while you’re at it.
Skye Tales Pre-Installed:
And I wasn’t a fan of those since they took away my carefree roaming cosy experience.I get that the main goal is to explore, but if you pass every tiny island a dozen times while looking for what you are missing or starting to doubt if you have already passed those or not… then it rapidly becomes monotonous and dull. There’s no help or hints for these side quests either. Again, taking away that cosy feeling and giving my ego a major dent; wondering if I’m overlooking or overthinking things and if a kid would be better at solving this than I am. Maybe I didn’t put enough thought into it, or maybe I wasn’t patient enough that day. I’m also a little bit salty that it’s called Sky Tales while there is very little tale to it in my opinion. I must give them the cut scenes are praiseworthy, voiced and in rhymes narrated; ever so charming, but that’s all the story we get – and it leaves me craving for just that little more since none of the cutscenes feel connected.
