Slice of Sea Direct Download
Slice of Sea is a peaceful adventure and puzzle game. You play as Seaweed, a sea creature clearly out of their element Explore desolate world of dust, all hand-drawn on paper in unique art style. Collect items, solve puzzles and lead Seaweed back home to the sea. Use keyboard to move around and mouse to solve puzzles. I’ve been a fan of the Submachine, Daymare Town and Covert Front series since 2007! I’ve loved these games – the eerie feelings and mysterious aura that they gave off were something precious to me. Mateusz Skutnik’s advanced point & click games are absolutely the best! Now coming to Slice of Sea, I was looking forward to purchase this game from a long time and I’m really happy to be one of the first few reviewers! I just played the game for a few minutes…and it seems to be a combination of all Mateusz Skutnik’s game concepts and characters. The good – Whimsical landscape, cute ‘sea-weed’ character, relaxing original sound track. Slice of Sea reminds me of the Isoland games and Leaves. It starts out quite nicely, with explorations, a big inventory, and puzzles to power up and open various areas.
In many ways, the game play is engaging and beautifully put together. The level or artistic detail makes for quite a few ‘Oh Wow!’ moments and there are some interesting game mechanics along the way. There is a lot of travel required, but teleporters allow you to jump between areas once you have activated them. There is some (very) occasional platforming but no penalty for missing and no real precision is required. The game has a ‘save on exit’ which is much appreciated. This means that your progress is never lost. While most puzzles are straight forward, some are multi-part and became confusing. Puzzles and associated inventory are spread across multiple areas so keeping things straight is a challenge at times. Twice now, I’ve ended up watching portions of a You Tube walk-through because I had no idea what I had missed.
Slice of Sea Pre-Installed:
The solutions themselves are not hard but knowing where to go to find additional parts of puzzles is what got me stuck. If you do look at You Tube, be aware that some puzzle solutions are different for each game so you cannot follow another player’s steps exactly. Since some achievements are mutually exclusive, completionists may need to play through at least twice. Almost all of the achievements are easy to miss so you are likely to need to peek at a guide to know what to look for and/or what action to take. I recommend this to patient, observant adventurers who don’t mind spending a lot of time exploring, taking notes, and scanning for objects. It is a lovely game for those who can settle into the rhythm of it. I’d also suggest that you play through for pure enjoyment, without regard for achievements or collectibles. The credits indicate that the game was created by a single developer. This is truly amazing!
