Smushi Come Home is a cozy exploration adventure game where you play as a tiny mushroom who’s trying to get back home! Play as Smushi, who was taken from its home unexpectedly and dropped into the middle of the forest. Lost and confused, you must journey through different areas of the forest and find your way back with the help of your new tools and fellow forest creatures! Run, Glide, Climb, and Swim your way through different areas of the forest! Chat with quirky forest creatures you meet along the way. Some might offer their help while others might need yours! Go on different adventures to get back home! Some may have light platforming while others involve some light puzzle solving! Smushi Come Home is an adorable adventure-exploration game where you play as a little mushroom. Find your way home, make some friends and help others. Everything about this bite-sized Indie is extremely wholesome. Similar to Lil Gator Game or A Short Hike, fans of the aforementioned titles are sure to find a lot to love with Smushi too.
Smushi the mushroom was enjoying his time with his siblings, when all the sudden, a large bird swoops down and whisks him away. Taking him far from his family, to a land unknown. Nevertheless, Smushi is a brave young mushroom and is determined to make it back to his unnamed island home. His journey leads him through different forests, meeting all kinds of friendly and strange characters along the way. Many will help him in his quest to return home, but many also require his help too. Smushi learns of his bravery and discovers how much his small actions can help others and the difference it can make. There are three different “worlds” to explore, each with their own map and is broken into separate caves and quests. Each area is very small, but still has plenty to do. Climb up cliff faces with your trusty climbing hooks, glide from platform to platform and collect new augmentations or mushroom caps to change your look. Help other characters along the way with small tasks such as collecting nectar, completing obstacle courses, delivering lost items or even quelling sibling dramas.

Each area has its own collectable items and is playable after finishing the main story. Areas can be revisited via fast travel and there are helpful hints to find the last collectable items. Being that the protagonist is a mushroom, the game features a variety of different mushrooms throughout the areas that are collected in players Mycology journal. Here, you can read factual information about the different types of mushrooms, which I loved and found it very educational. Smushi’s notes provided an entertaining and amusing read too. The sprinting, climbing and gliding abilities are all improved as further collectables are found, but most seem to be compulsory to finish the game. Furthermore, the main collectable items are crystals The game overall is very short, and although the tasks remain roughly the same, it did not feel too repetitive, although I did play the game in two sessions.
