About The Game
Continuing directly from where Spark the Electric Jester 2 left off, Join Spark on his mission to overthrow his rival once again. Blaze through fast action packed stages and experience a new and improved combat system. The gameplay is a mix of action and platforming in a clever way, taking elements from many games of both genres, you are able to find powers that change the way you play, enjoy great freedom of movement, discover many different ways to beat each stage, and ways to do it faster. This game is fantastic. The speed is great and in a way rewards not using automation. The combat is a significant step up from Spark 2 with combat that has a lot of technical aspects while still being fairly user-friendly. And of course, the stage gimmicks are a neat touch while not overstaying their welcome. My one gripe is that some of the enemies are a bit underwhelming early on with slow attack rates.
Compared to it’s predecessor, everything has been improved. The story, animations, graphics, music, controls, levels, bosses, and especially the combat have been tightened up since the second game to an incredible degree. The game also features a lot more variety, such as in the new racing stages. I really enjoyed all of the different types of game play, and they offer a nice change of pace whenever they pop up. Despite that, the alternative game play styles are rare enough that you will be back playing as Spark within a minute or two, in case you don’t enjoy the variety. Spark 3 is my game of the year without question, and I would recommend it to basically everyone. And the game is only 20 bucks at launch! The game could honestly be double that and it would still be worth it. But for just 20? Yeah, this is not a game to miss out on.

If you’re not a score run obsessed lunatic like me. Spark the Electric Jester 3 & Knuckles is one of the best 3D fast paced games out there. But if you’re a Spark 2 score runner, this game will be kind of a disappointment, so in that case, wait for the mods that restore the score lock and allow you to edit the medal requirements to be more challenging. Outside of that, Spark 3 is absolutely worth your time and money, undeniably one of the best games this year and one of the best 3d platformers of all time. But before you touch this, go play Spark 1 and 2 first because they are integral to understand the lore of the Spark series, they are also good games on their own right too.
