STANDBOX is about that urge that you might have had as a kid, when you were more interested about the tech-demo than the game advertised. It’s an interactive sandbox where you get to bully a smart ragdoll. He can stand, tries to balance himself up, fall and get back-up, and is animated by an approximation of a medical system that includes organs. Even bordering on $8 being too much. It’s very fun for a while. The ragdoll physics are great and I haven’t found any bugs. But at the same time, this game is so bare bones it’s barely a game. You get four weapons, six if you include the brick and grenade. Except most of the time it’ll throw a grenade when you really wanted to throw a brick. This game took me about 8 hours to complete, and that was without doing all the secret side stuff. This game is hard, even on the easy difficulty. You actually have to think when you fight, and when you finally beat a boss after trying super hard, it feels super good.
This game is constantly throwing new, fun and exciting things at you. Every chapter and set piece feels unique and memorable. There’s tons of weapons to play with and tons of secrets scattered throughout the game. They really know when to balance comedy and horror appropriately. It’s just so, so good. I The gunplay is extremely fun, the game looks great with a stylish cartoony look with some of the most beautiful scenery in a VR game! Vertigo 2 improves on everything from the first game and is quite challenging and the campaign is pretty lengthy (took me Approx. 10 hours to complete). Plus, there is an upcoming update that gives access to a really neat in-VR level editor which is (as of now) is currently in beta! I have not yet seen something like this in VR! You seriously get a bang for your buck with this game!

I recommend playing this game on very hard to start as the easier difficulties are simply too easy and extreme can be very punishing if you don’t have a full grasp on the mechanics yet. My only complaint is that they didn’t lean more into the horror aspect for all the levels because the few times where they do it really shines and makes me wish the whole game was like that. The guns feel very solid and polished. I will admit that when I first started, the guns felt a bit hard to control, but they felt good after like 20 minutes. There are boss battles in this game, mostly on the main story. Side missions does have HVTs which, in a sense are like miniboss, but they’re as strong as the other grunts. They do have different models than the rest, and the game tells you when they come out.
