Created with the Unity engine for simultaneous release on PC, Mac and Linux. The late game is really tedious. Colony governors are needed particularly for the mid to late game as it becomes micro intensive. There are no defaults for troop loadouts so you have to do every one manually. Late game AI ship designs are very weak so the battles become trivial and nowhere near as much fun as the early game.
Stardrive 2 Direct Play:
The ground combat is weak. Automatic resolution comes at a high price as it leads to excessive losses compared to manual combat even when you have a massive advantage, so it essentially forces the lame ground combat or bombardment to avoid it. AI – After about 8 hours I have come to appreciate the difficulty of the AI, they wait till your fleets are out of position and attack core worlds, will try and undermine you diplomatically and have varied personallities ranging from homicidal to just the nicest little plant people ever. They also seem to adapt to your ship building strategies and it seems very difficult to cheese the AI in this game. Stardrive 2 is a difficult game with a steep learining curve that has deep and rewarding systems. Its not for the feebleminded. Some of the production values in certain areas of the game are a little low but otherwise it feels like a AAA game. I would heartily reccomend this game to any lover of 4x or grand strategy games and to anyone as obsessive as i am about building the deadliest ship ever.
