But the lyrics could’ve been revised to vocally flow better, at least. Not to say my ears were bleeding, as it’s far from that terrible, it’s just noticeably weak compared to how fantastic the rest of the presentation is. The rhythm minigames themselves are fun because of responsive inputs and the dynamic visuals. Those brief, vaguely Katamari-esque destruction sections serve as a hilarious counterpart to the music creation. Simply running around talking to the townspeople was enjoyable, too. This has some of the best writing in a game I’ve played lately. It’s smart, without feeling up its own ass, and it’s funny. Supported by excellent direction, the storytelling stays engaging throughout. I’ll be thinking deeply about the humanities for quite a while, all thanks to this weird little indie game.
