Select your weapon, your gadgets and then your play style as you enter ready to take down all the enemies patrolling the level. To help you along your way is a large selection of gadgets and weaponry to assassinate your targets in any way you like. You can either go in guns blazing, with a mad desire to re-colour the walls red or take a more delicate approach as you sneak your way around the level avoiding detection. Your main weapon can either be a sword which can deflect bullets, chop down your foes or be thrown for maximum bloodshed. A shield which can be thrown at multiple enemies at once or to reflect their bullets right back at them. A bow for silent long range kills without worrying about ammo. And finally a machine gun because sometimes the best solution is the loudest one. You also have a selection of bad ass gadgetry, starting with ninja stars and gas grenades leading into the more ridiculous pocket sized black holes and self destructive crabs. For the price it’s at I would reluctantly recommend it, but the game is no longer being updated and the sandbox environments that it gives you start to feel a little boring if you actually really want to play it for an extended amount of time.

Also, the game is quite inconsistent in its challenge, with the sword enemies and snipers literally just being target practice but shotgun-wielding enemies being able to end a run if you get noticed by them. Even still, this along with any semblance of a threat from enemies can (at least in the normal gamemode) be ignored altogether if you just run away. This stands on all maps, and even on all difficulties. But, it’s still a pretty fun stealth sandbox, and it’s got a pretty great price, just lacking polish/consistency. Fun for just getting back into it for a few games every once in a while or for having fun with the AI. After playing through a few maps on insane difficulty, I can at least say that if you pick this game up, you should, in my opinion, 100% go for this difficulty.

If not insane, stick to normal. Hard in my opinion neuters the viability of some items (shield, pistol, etc) but at the same time doesn’t make stealth truly worth it and still gives snipers the SHORTEST end of the stick. On insane, it isn’t like items that didn’t compete well on hard are better, but you at least get an incentive to use stealth, and running doesn’t get as far as you might hope all the time. Snipers are also scarier in general, and for once sword-wielding enemies are worth looking at. Overall, Sword With Sauce, though no longer supported, is still in my opinion pretty fun to come back to for a few games every once in a while, and has a good price for its content.
