The Inn-Sanity is a standout gem in the 2024 horror scene, delivering an experience that feels almost too polished for an early-access title. While the graphics are decent and won’t necessarily blow you away, the game compensates with an intriguing story and beautifully crafted monster designs Unlike many indie horror titles that fall into the predictable “walking simulator” category, The Inn-Sanity offers more depth with engaging gameplay elements. The inclusion of voice and face censors is a unique touch, adding a layer of unease and mystery to the overall atmosphere. One notable critique is the voice of the goth girlfriend character. Her voice feels artificial, likely generated by AI, and it detracts from the immersion. Even an amateur voice actor would bring more authenticity and emotion to the role, which would greatly enhance the character’s presence and the story’s impact.

Nice little low-stakes horror walking sim. Sometimes I wanna play something spooky without the stress of being stalked by the most terrifying creature for 4+ hours and this fits that bill nicely. Not the scariest game but its got a good atmosphere and I like the (albeit somewhat unfocused) story decisions you can make that affect the outcome of the game. Plus manic pixie goth girlfriend. Addendum: I will say that based on reviews I read for other similar games on here, some people will probably not find the $8 (I think?) price tag worth the content, unfortunately. But its pretty well done and runs well and the devs seem attentive and willing to address any bugs people might find (I didn’t really have any) so it’s the kind of game I’m happy to support at that price point. If you’re a hyper-critical penny-pincher though, maybe wait until the game is < $5. If you can, though, I’d support at “full” price because it looks like it was made by just 3 devs and those people deserve the money they get for putting something like this together.
