The Tale of Bistun Direct Download
The Tale of Bistun follows an amnesiac stone-carver on his journey up the slopes of the intimidating Mount Bistun. He’ll have to battle legions of monstrous foes using fast-paced, melee combat and powerful magical abilities as he explores the real world and the mysterious place of forgotten memories, known as the Revelations Realm, in search of answers. All the while, a mysterious voice encourages him to keep going, recounting his every step and keeping close tabs on his quest through these beautiful but blight-infested lands. Is this game a masterpiece? No, It is a slow paced, easy action adventure, with a narrator constantly telling the story at every step you take. Like a voiced visual novel, but you control the main character directly in an isometric world, and you fight stronger and stronger enemies. The combat is well made – you cannot avoid it, because you enter a combat arena, and the doors close,
only to open again after you have killed all foes. Outside the combat, the main gameplay consists of exploring the world. Most of the time you just follow a strange little bird (who might not be a bird after all…) you have met at the beginning, but it pays off to look around a bit more because you will find stone tablets/statues/blacksmiths slightly away from the main route to the next waypoint. Your first weapon is a hatchet, but you find additional weapons during the game. There are also places where you weapon gets upgraded with a special attack and later chain attacks, you don’t even have to pay anything for it, just give the weapon to a magic blacksmith. There is no inventory, no character stats, no money to collect. Foes are different, new and more dangerous ones are added the further you continue. When you die, the last checkpoint (before the last fight) is loaded. Difficulty is not very high, your health is restored after each fight.
The Tale of Bistun Pre-Installed:
The story tells about a man who wakes up in a strange place, having no memory of who he is. He frees an old pomegranate tree from an ancient evil, and then the tree’s younger friends while he slowly regains his memory. Remember your old profession, remember the love of your life. Eat pomegranates to have strange visions. Fight through the real world, corrupted by something evil. Find your way through a dark, empty alternate realm, the Revelations Realm. Carve statues out of stone. So, is it a masterpiece? Probably not, but it is not a bad little action game, either. It is short and it is easy, the only fight that took me a bit longer to win was the final fight. While you can change audio options or enlarge the subtitles, there are no graphical options at all. Gamepad works fine.
